Reading it now. Could section 3 move to the appendix?
Agreed, it reads better that way. I'll update the outline.

From download to first message
Four steps, about five minutes. Pick your computer to see the right instructions.
Install Syncup
Open the DMG and drag Syncup into Applications. If your Mac asks about replacing the old SyncUp app (it has the same name), choose Keep Both while you still need your old chats.Run the installer. It installs for your account and opens Syncup when it finishes.
Open it the first time
Open Syncup from Applications. It's signed and checked by Apple, so your Mac only asks once whether to open an app from the internet: click Open. The installer isn't signed by Microsoft yet. If you see "Windows protected your PC", choose More info, then Run anyway.
Accept your invitation
Click the link in the invitation email from Syncup. The app opens and asks you to set a password. The link works for 7 days.
Say hello
Your groups appear on the left. Press โKCtrl K to find anyone in the workspace and start a conversation.
Questions people ask first
My Mac says Syncup can't be opened
Syncup is signed and checked by Apple, so this means an old download. Delete it, download Syncup again from this page and open the new copy.
Windows says it protected my PC
Choose More info, then Run anyway. This appears because the installer isn't signed yet.
I haven't received an invitation
Invitations go out by email on launch day. Check your spam folder; if it isn't there, ask an admin to invite you again.
My invitation link expired
Links last 7 days. Ask an admin to send a new invitation from the admin console.
I forgot my password
Ask an admin to reset it from Admin console, Users.
Where are my old chats?
Syncup starts fresh. Your old messages, groups and files stay in the old SyncUp, which stays open for looking things up until the date we announce.
Calls connect but I can't hear anyone
Syncup relays calls through its own server when a network blocks direct calls, so check your microphone first: on a Mac, System Settings, Privacy & Security, Microphone must allow Syncup. If it still fails, tell the tech team which network you were on.
Is there a phone app?
Not yet. Syncup is for Mac and Windows.
How do I update?
You don't have to. Syncup downloads updates in the background; when it says "Update ready", quit and reopen it.
